What do you guys think of fandoms? I'm talking about the fanbases of phenomena such as Homestuck, Doctor Who, etc. Do you find them annoying, or do you understand how they feel?

Since no one seems to have replied, I guess I will, though I'm not sure what to say. Let's just see what happens when I start talking about a fandom, let's say furries: Of course, people have their own tastes, fetishes, pleasures, likes, dislikes, etc. and due to their relatively exclusive nature it's not always very easy if not impossible to logically comprehend them when you don't share their tastes, especially because a lot of the time it's something built into human nature, which isn't very logical at all. But that doesn't really give you grounds to insult or abhor something. Preferences are preferences. If it doesn't force anything upon you then it shouldn't matter. It depends on why they proclaim themselves to be part of the fandom and how they express that, I guess. A brony could be someone who just happens to like the show, a "poser" who only associates with it because it's currently "in", and/or someone who actively shoves brony material down everyone's throats almost as hard as they want to shove their dick down a horse's and practically dedicates their life to it. I used to have a "friend" who was a furry, and he tried to make me re-post pictures that supported furries, and tried to accuse me of being against them if I didn't re-post it. It's more that I'd rather not treat it like a big deal just because it's "different," especially when it's something I'm not that interested in myself. Same applies with any other fandom, whether it's anime or bronies. I don't care to announce to the world, "I AM OKAY WITH THE IDEA OF PEOPLE LIKING MY LITTLE PONY" or anything, it just seems unnecessary. Anyway, people like relating to other people. Fandoms are a way for people to do so. I don't mind people liking things just because they like it, giving themselves the title as a means of saying "I like this," and then moving on with their day. It's only annoying because many fandoms get infested with a bunch of imbeciles that make a much more prominent mark and representation of the fandom than the others do. The way words attain definitions is through consensual, almost regionally-ubiquitous decisions on what the definition should be. What the majority says it is, is what it is. Is is is is is is is. So if you consider them to be the fandom, the drooling morons spouting out their love for it because of an innate desire to fit in, the most prominent and largest representation of itself, then I guess you could say it annoys me a bit. Ideas can be much better than the group of people who claim to agree with it. Some philosophies behind religions aren't too horrible, but humans know how to ruin everything. I'm not really satisfied with what I've typed because it wasn't the best worded nor were there any particularly new viewpoints or anything but I honestly don't know what else to say. At least you have a reply now
